Basic Massage Program
Massage Tech (200
hours)
Students will learn to give and receive a full body Swedish Massage.
Class format includes theory and history of massage, demonstration
of technique, supervised practice and guided realization technique.
Emphasis is on becoming comfortable with touch.
Anatomy & Physiology
(75 hours)
Students will learn the structure and function of the body by exploring
the vital systems of the human body. The emphasis for the bodywork
is on the muscular skeletal system. Lectures are focused on the
relationship of the body system and it's response to massage.
Kinesiology (50 hours)
Students will learn the study of human movement. Learning the relationship between the complex structures of the human body.
Pathology (40 hours)
Students will study the structural changes caused by disease and how they relate to massage therapy and practice.
Health & Hygiene
(20 hours)
Students will learn the basics of disease prevention and health.
Topics include proper care for equipment and supplies, personal
health maintenance through exercise and nutrition, and hygiene.
There is also a lecture on working with AIDS patients.
Business Practices
and Professional Ethics (45 hours)
Students will learn vital information regarding the industry and
starting a successful massage business. Topics include: career options,
state laws, marketing, record keeping and professionalism.
Hydrotherapy (20 hours)
Students will learn basis hydrotherapy principles: the use of hot
and cold, the various baths, dry brushing and salt glows.
Internship (50 hours)
Students will get "Hands~On" and practical experience
working in a massage clinic. Learning objective includes performing
massage on the public, scheduling appointments, interviewing clients
and keeping records.
