Basic Massage Program Objectives
To develop proficiency and confidence in Swedish Massage.
To teach the comprehensive understanding of structure and function
of the human body and the effects of massage therapy through working
knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
To develop confidence and skills necessary to successfully practice
massage through clinical, practical and internship requirements.
To teach the understanding of the benefits and limitations of massage
therapy, and the knowledge to refer clients to other professional
health care practitioners when appropriate.
To teach the necessary skills for planning, beginning and successfully
operating a business in massage therapy.
To have students understand and appreciate their own bodies and
practice self care, including proper movement during a massage for
safety and prevention of injury.
To teach understanding of the process of change in people in order
to facilitate client change through massage therapy.
Graduation Requirements
- Completion of 450 contact hours of training, plus 50 hours of
internship.
- Successful completion of all assignments.
- 80% or better on all tests.
- All financial obligations must be paid in full before transcripts
are released.
- If students are on the long term financing plan 6 consecutive
on-time payments must be received.
